Zainab Alkulaibi holds a BA in Mass Media Communication from the University of Sana’a, Yemen. She works as a General Manager of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Yemeni Ministry of Youth and Sport. She is a member of the National Safe Motherhood Alliance (NSMA) where she chairs the youth and international relations section. She was an interpreter from Arabic to English for several international research projects in human rights and gender justice. She has actively participated in grassroots initiatives for community development, cultural empowerment, humanitarian assistance, gender equality and women’s rights. As a leader of the Sarkhat Shabab group, she has actively contributed to youth participation and leadership in Yemen until the 2014/ 2015 war outbreak. She has also collaborated with various local and international NGOs leading initiatives on women's economic empowerment and humanitarian aid as well as raising voices against child marriages.
